The Regulations And Details Of Inspection Practices

Blount Fine Foods, the McKinney-based food manufacturer, is recalling approximately 6,384 pounds of chicken tortilla soup products after reports of contamination. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced the recall Friday after several consumers complained of finding pieces of gray nitrile glove in their food. FSIS said they’re recalling the 16-oz. plastic containers of “Panera Bread at Home Chicken Tortilla Soup” with lot code 070121-1V and “Use By 09/09/2021”. The recalled products also bear the establishment number “P-13130” inside the USDA mark of inspection. FSIS expressed their concerns that the products may already be in consumers’ homes as the fully cooked, ready to eat, chicken tortilla soup has been shipped to retail locations in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, and Texas. Blount Fine Foods said there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to the consumption of these products but recommends that anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact their healthcare provider.

Respond to the questions below,

1. Food law explains that food businesses are subject to numerous requirements and prohibitions. Before you go inot business or start a business there are laws which you should become aware of to follow and take measures to follow. What business do you own or work for that follows logal, state, and federal laws? What are those laws and what are the processes you follow while working to comply in order to not break the law as an operating business?

2. Legal consequences exist for a food business that fails to remedy the problem. Note that at least three types of entities may be involved with a food safety concern: one or more regulatory agencies, the food business, and the affected consumer(s). This page describes likely responses by each of these parties. In any place where you have worked have you seen in inspector or oficial agency to check, review or inspect any area or aspect of the business? Discuss what type of business and what are the regulations and details of their inspection practices?

3. A food safety issue that leads to consumer illnesses raises several challenges. Consumer can recover (fortunately many do), what medical treatment would help the recovery, and what went wrong in the industry and government oversight that allowed unsafe food to reach consumers. The technology that allows food from a single location to be rapidly distributed over large areas aggravates this concern.

4.Business have a legal responsibility to provide safe products to consumers. As a customer of a large chain of restaurants and products sold like Panera Bread, when I puchase soup I expect the food not to make me sick. Many times business “cut corners” on safety and extra steps and measures in production and services they make and offer in order to save money or time. Discuss any examples of have exprienced as and employee or a customer where you clearly knew that the business was legally not following appropriate steps and measures? Expalin you thoughts and if you found it important or not?
